In addition to my summer internship with Tri Delta Housing, I also served on my chapter’s housing committee, which allowed me to participate in meetings about upcoming house updates and renovations. Through this role, I gained insight into the planning behind projects such as a new bathroom, dining room updates, updated living room furnishings, and a new entryway. I also created a mock-up video of the brand new bathroom to present at chapter of the proposed design to our members. This experience gave me another perspective on the design process and how decisions about a space can directly impact the people who use it.
This experience also helped me expand my client communication and professionalism skills. Through both my studio projects and my experiences with Tri Delta, I have been grateful for opportunities to communicate with real clients, present my work, and explain design ideas in a professional setting. Sharing my work and seeing how others respond has helped me feel more confident presenting my ideas, listening to feedback, and understanding the importance of communication throughout the design process.
